"NASA has recently announced a shocking plan to spend $1.75 million of public funds blasting up to 28 squirrel monkeys with a massive dose of radiation equivalent to what a human would experience during three years in outer space."

No. They should use lawyers. There’s more of them and you don’t get so attached to them.

Why not test on these mutant animals?

Sounds bad, but its really no different then using lab animals for studying the effects of cosmetics, prior to human testing. Or legions of fruit flies for studying genetics. How about all those frogs and fetal pigs used for dissection in biology class?

Then again, you have the whole meat market thing with cattle, chicken, fish and pigs.

One aspect of life on this planet is that death is usually quite violent.

No I think that is cruelty to animal kingdom and is not and never should be tested because it is giving them a slow painful death.

You get the opinion from PETA; which is already one other extreme…

Three years in outer space is the maximum you can do currently, without violating the 3% increased life-time cancer risk for all human radiation workers. I don’t see PETA shout around that the current safety rules for humans are cruel…

It is not about killing animals in a cruel way – contrary what PETA thinks. PETA is full of people whose love for animals is just a new kind of cruelty.
