I got bitten by a spider monkey, and my blood was exposed, is there any risk at all?

It was a zoo monkey, they say it’s vaccinated, but I want to know what the risks are

Any time you are bitten by an animal there is risk of infection. I could care less if it is ‘vaccinated’ because I don’t know what he has had in his mouth since then. The Zoo should be responsible and see to it you get medical care at their expense. Animal bites are always potentially infectious. Domestic, vaccinated cats put a lot of people in hospitals. Have your self and the animal examined.

Don’t know. But if it was a radioactive spider monkey, remember that with great power comes great responsibility.

there’s always a risk, might want to observe it for a while, if it seems to get worse, seek medical attention.

if it had a disease(virus) then there is is a huge risk. If it had no disease, which it most likely did not, then there is no risk whatsoever involved. I would still see your doctor however.

Since it was a zoo monkey, it probably had few, if any diseases.

Clean the wound to keep it from getting infected.

since it’s vaccinated, you don’t have a risk of any of the bad viruses (that should include rabies, or anything endemic to monkeys)

That doesn’t mean there is no risk at all though, it’s just the normal risk of an animal bite or open wound of any kind.

Watch for swelling or any other signs of infection. If any signs start, get to the Dr as soon as you can for some antibiotics.

It isn’t something I would stress over, just keep it clean, and watch it, just like any wound.
