Monkey

There’s an old movie that describes the evolution of man, but the only part I remember is the monkeys worshipping a stick. Does anybody know the name of this movie?

It sounds like you’re describing the opening sequence of "2001: A Space Odyssey". They aren’t worshipping a stick. Go back and watch the movie, again.
