How have we humans evolved from monkeys if monkeys still exist?

I don’t believe in this evolution crap. it doesn’t make any sense. just because monkeys have similar characteristics as humans, it doesn’t mean anything.

Well if that’s the caliber of the reasons you have against evolution, then no wonder you think it’s "crap" while pretty much the entire scientific community disagrees with you.

Your argument makes NO LOGICAL SENSE!

If evolution was about every species *REPLACING* its ancestor … then logically there should be only ONE species alive on the planet!!

Since that is clearly not the case, then that’s clearly not what evolutions *says*!

Evolution says that one species can *SPLIT* and become two species that both go on to be separate branches in evolution.

Why does a species *split* into two species? Because populations get genetically isolated from each other all the time. If this isolation is for a long enough time, then they lose the ability to interbreed … hence new species … and two permanently separated branches in evolution.

Thus one branch can go on to become the ancestors of modern humans, and the other branch the ancestor of modern monkeys.

That’s why we do NOT say that "humans evolved from monkeys" … but that humans and monkeys share a common ancestor.

And it’s NOT just because they have "similar characteristics" … it’s about patterns in DNA, and proteins, and morphology, and embryology, and fossils, and biogeography, and many many other reasons.

It’s NOT that complicated!

But you have to be willing to actually TRY to understand the theory … instead of just rejecting something without any effort whatsoever of actually understanding it first.

The problem with Creationism is that it teaches you to think in *SIMPLISTIC* cartoonlike terms. That is why it teaches truly pathetic science understanding.

So you want to side with the religious dumbshits, hu? Well – I’m sure they’ll welcome you with open arms. And you’ll be SO HOLY!!! Stupid = Holy.

People didn’t evolved from monkeys – this question has been asked 10,000 times now. Both monkeys and people evolved from the same root.

lol they said we evolved from a common ancestor not from monkeys. it means we both would have you know like a great great great great great you get the picture millions of years old and they got unlucky and didnt evolve like we did. I don’t like uniformed persons making people who know the arguments look bad. I don’t believe in evolution either but please learn a bit more before opening your mouth. You can only make an informed decision if you know the arguments.

    *sigh*

I am descended from Europeans, but there are still people living in Europe. Some monkeys about 7 million years ago had descendants who became modern apes, some had descendants who became people.

Similar characteristics? ALL mammals have the same skeletal structures, just shaped and adapted for their lifestyles. Apes and humans have identical tooth patterns, our hemoglobin is identical to that of chimpanzees, our DNA is about 99% identical. We and apes descended from a common ancestor. That common ancestor had a common ancestor with monkeys. That common ancestor had a common ancestor with lemurs. Etc, etc.

monkeys have a common ancestor with humans. we didnt evolve "from" monkeys. try learning a little about the theory before disregarding it

NO. We did not evolve from monkeys. Monkeys and humans have a common ancestor which no longer exists on this planet. Please read some Darwin. Trust us, evolution is real.

Actually, humans and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor.
