Whats the difference between Monkey Nuts and Peanuts?

I always thought that the nuts inside monkey nuts were peanuts but have been told that they are not!! So whats the difference then?

The nut is the same its just that monkey nuts means the complete pod…. I read it on wikipedia before as i wondered the same thing

    Peanuts are grown from a small bush, but what we call monkey nuts in Australia are also known as pine nuts. There is an Araucaria growing in the tropics of here and South America producing similar nuts.
