What’s wrong with a hot blooded Indian calling Symonds a ‘MONKEY’. Have u ever seen his hairstyle ?

Posted by admin on January 18th, 2010 and filed under monkey pictures | 17 Comments »

Jokes are a part of our normal life. Monkey is the commom word that is used by people to abuse others ( friends most of the times). Sometimes even my sisters call me monkey when i irritate them. Are they racist ?
I call me friends monkeys when they wear a bad dress & they do the same with me. This just a little humor & that is a part of it.

Yes sometimes we do it against our enemies but how can you associate ‘Racism’ with it.

‘SYMONDS ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A MONKEY’. You must watch his pictures. He has a strange hair-style & that is exactly the reason why some Indian called him ‘Monkey’.
Mallinga should expect the same treatment from those people when he comes to India next time.
Same is the case with English fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom.
It is the strange hairstyle which made people say those things. There was nothing racist in it.
I don’t know why the newspapers in Australia are publishing such crap.

That was harsh, i agree but we all know that all people are not nice. Stop nonsense
AUSTRALIA & FRANCE ARE #1 IN RACISM DEPARTMENT.

What they did with the innocent Indian muslim doctor Hanif Mohammed earlier this year is known to all.

Indians are nice as long as the person at the other end is nice too. Yes we know what Mahatma Gandhi said , but we also know what Bhagat Singh & Subhash Chander Bose said.

Australia is one team which is looked after so well in India. We give your team our best hotels, best food & best facilities.
Australia’s matches are played at our best grounds
But the Australian team is thankless towards our hospitality.

Symonds is indeed a monkey as far as looks our concerned.

I have just read an article at the crappy Cricinfo. site & they are now saying that SA team has been a victim of racism in Pakistan. What the hell is it now?

Stop such nonsense & get a life
Brissy – I hate all those So called Indians which leave their mother India just for earning more money. It sucks & Haneef sucks at that too.
But that is a differnet thing. The bottomline is that the Australian government handled his case poorly & that was racist.

I am not a damn ‘f’ myself but my only point is that the ‘Monkey’ chants were not racist by any means.

They called him racist because of his strange hair-style.

Another thing, i don’t mind anyone saying things like shorty to Sachin & other individual insults. There is a difference between ‘INSULT’ & ‘RACISM’.
That ‘MONKEY’ thing was an insult but it wasn’r racist at all.

The Aussies newspapers & the crappy Cricinfo.com shouyld just shut up
Sarangu – I someone one will pass such a comment towards me, i will feel bad 7 angry & i may just beat the crap out of that guy.
But still the thing is , it’s not ‘RACISM’
That’s my point.
It was an insult but it wasn’t racist
Damn it, forgive me for the crap spellings.
Murali 11 – Don’t you dare to describe Indian fans as ‘SILLY’ otherwise Montitude’s knowledge about SA is also very good.

By the way, where in the hell have i said anything about his skin color so why was there any need to say that most Indians are darker than Symonds.
Get your facts right & then try to say anything about Indian fans

u have to understand this problem culturally. i have lived in the usa and india.

in india, there is more freedom of speech in some areas and the word monkey is a personal insult. not so much a racist taunt. hey, after all we’re all indians who call each other monkey.

however, in europe, australia, usa the term monkey is very derogatory and is actually racist.

i called my friends monkey and vice versa in school in india but this is different.

i think sreesanth should be explained why the term is so hurtful. symonds is aboriginal i.e. a native australian. his people suffered a lot of racism by the european settlers aka modern day aussies.

so symonds should never be called that.
however, in this incident at least the aussies know how bad it feels. mcgrath called jayasuriya a black monkey.

this is a double standard by the aussies. taunt the dark skinned south asians but when symonds is called a monkey, ponting erupts?

the idiot should be told that respect goes both ways.

this is a perfect example of how misunderstanding occurs between different cultures.

those fools in australia think sreesanth is a racist when actually indians do call other indians monkey and sreesanth thinks it was just an "ordinary" taunt.

@imawunda u dumb, stupid imbecile.
indian newspapers never printed articles when aussies dished out racist taunts.
get ur facts right. its the aussie captain crying and the australian newspapers publishing these articles.

i would never go to india becauseof the class differences?
read the middle part of my answer where british colonialists were cruel to the aborigines.

india is jealous of australia? though india has problems, india is the worlds fourth largest economy. india generates the most engineers after china. most of the startups in silicon valley in america, where i live is done by indians.

not by euros, aussies, canadians, chinese, mideast people but by indians. i mean tech startup companies.

im jealous? no way.

Yeah, you’re right.I think its due to difference in our cultures. But will you feel the same way if someone in Australia calls Tendulkar a shorty or a fatso? Will you let them poke fun at an Indian player without crucifying them and calling them racist?

I should tell you the Cricket section is the most hate-filled and racist of all.I am sick of seeing everyone taking turns at bashing India and Australia all the time. Can’t we have some sanity here?

As I have said before, it is only OK when the Indians, Pakistanis & Sri lankans are dishing out insults.

If the Australians say or do anything in retalliation, these black nations band together & scream that it is racism.

All three countries are backward nations. The people still have chips on their shoulders from the white colonist days & are still very jealous of the advancement of nations like Australia.

I have been to India & I can tell you one thing – I would never want to go back there due to the class differences of the people.

It was racism. And it backfired on India.

Indians are going into denial because they have lost all credibility & the next time they scream racism everyone will remind them of calling Symons a monkey.

I know of some similar insulting terms I could direct at Indians – but I wouldn’t do so because I know they would be seen as racist terms.

How about you dont judge a guy by his hairstyle eh, atleast he is doing something different and not having a normal look like everyone else,he could have just shaved off his hair and look normal but hes creative and has some style at least.if thats the case then the indian fans are silly for calling someone a monkey for his hairstyle. We all have our different looks and symonds has his,so you dont have to stoop so low to the australians level and acting like monkeys. i dont know about racism but all i know that there are a lot of people in India who is darker than symonds himself.thanks!!

what you are saying monti is that indian fans called symonds monkey because of his hairstyle…..i dont believe that for one second.
if you take away the hairtstyle factor what other reason do you have to call a guy monkey,it might not be racism but it sure isnt hairstyle. oh and sorry for the skin colour thing it was just for all those people who thought it was racism at that time

It is hard to believe and very unusual to hear such remarks in India.
The monkey chant appears to be a misinterpretation of "Ganabati baba Moriya" chant as reported in the same article.I hope the truth will be revealed early.
Still if it is true I am certain the Gujarat cricket association will take appropriate action.Because they are our guests as long as they are in India.
Dear Montitude, even if done as mockery in individual capacity, such insults should not be allowed. It is a disgrace to our culture.

well my dear friend firstly i want to clarify why mr.symnde is hurt by the word monkey…

The first recorded European sighting of the Australian mainland was made by the Dutch navigator Willem Janszoon, who sighted the coast of Cape York Peninsula in 1606. During the 17th century, the Dutch charted the whole of the western and northern coastlines of what they called New Holland, but made no attempt at settlement. In 1770, James Cook sailed along and mapped the east coast of Australia, which he named New South Wales and claimed for Great Britain. The expedition’s discoveries provided impetus for the establishment of a penal colony there.

the tribes of australia were considered as animals(priminitve monkey) until 1969 aftre that(after revoval of White Australia policy ) they were started being consider as humans….
mr.symonds is a hybrid of a white man and a black aborigin women of australia.
so mr.symonds is consider as a half white black man(black)
so this word hurt him as his cmmunity was being considered as monkey.

so cnsider a countery(australia) which counts human as monkeys now they making cry and hype…
if you wont believe me you should believe me australia is the mst racist country in whole world..

    jusy read this ….

In June 1998, One Nation, an Australian nationalist party in Queensland won 25 percent of the votes with their main lines at fighting immigration by non-whites. This was made possible where unemployment was been high and where it was easy to convince the people that immigrants were taking their jobs, as it would serve to be a convenient excuse and avenue to vent frustration. In a speech the party leader said that Australia was “in danger of being swamped” by Asians and she also questioned the special welfare benefits for Australia’s Aborigines. The reaction to that meant the same party won only 6 percent of the votes two months later, in the State elections.

Australia has also had a very racist past in which apartheid has been practiced and where indigenous Aboriginal people have lost almost all their land and suffered many prejudices. In the past, the notorious policy that led to the Stolen Generation was practiced. This was the institutionalized attempt to prevent Aboriginal children (and thus future generations) from being socialized into Aboriginal culture. (This also ocurred in various parts of the Americas too.)

Aborigines are the poorest group in Australia and suffer from very much preventable diseases. For more about these issues, you can start at these harrowing reports from John Pilger a prominent Australian journalist who has been critical of many western policies.

The Sydney 2000 Olympics also brought some of Australia’s racist past and present to the fore. (On the positive side, many parts of Australia’s rich diversity in people is slowly helping relieve prejudism. However, some more traditional and conservative politicians are still openly racist.)

even then you are nt satisfied read this book…"

Your sister calling you monkey or you calling your friends are different. Would you like it if someone calls you monkey even if you know deep inside you that you really look like a monkey? No. Nobody will. Same is the case here.If that stupid indian fan has called Sidebottom or Mallinga a monkey it wouldn’t be such a problem b’coz Symmonds is an aborginal. Even in his country he had to face racism. So don’t think that he is going to take it as humour. I think your idea of humour sucks.
There is a difference between on-field sledging and off-field abuses. Such abuses will be taken as racist comments whether or not the ‘imaginative’ and ‘perceptive’ fan mean it.

Your completely wrong dude, i never expected this from you…
Calling a person who is great & popular in the society a monkey is completely wrong, you have to agree that it’s wrong.

e.g If Symonds says the same thing to Romesh Pawar or to Sreesanth, then what will you guys say?
    Your wrong bro, your worng…

No matter wether he looks like a Monkey or a Zebra, what really matter is the way he plays.
Symonds is playing very well these days, he is on fire, where nobody can stop him.

I really feel sorry for Symond’s, im sure that it would have mentally hurt him allot.
You should not say that a person looks like a monkey, cus its not he who designed his face by him self, it’s all god’s creation, we should be thank full to god that we dont look like that, because we dont look like that only we are insulting people who looks like that.
