whats the relationship or history between monkeys and black people?

i hear in the news that black football players get abuse in the form of monkey antics, which i don’t get, whats the story or history behind this and how is it offensive

Bigots have been calling black people "Jungle Bunnies", "Gorillas", "Jungle apes" and other, similar epithets for centuries, based on the fact that gorillas and chimpanzees have black skin and wide noses; also that Black people came from Africa. The implication is that the black people were primitive and stupid, or not quite human.

I heard the same thing yesterday on NPR – in the 1960’s and 1970’s the racists in England would throw bananas on the field when a soccer/football player who was black would come onto the field.

They are the missing link between humans and apes.

It’s because in the racist mind the fact that monkeys are less developed than humans is transferable to black people. The irony is the people acting like monkeys are the ones who are less evolved.

It is simply a derogatory, insulting, and unnecessary insult referencing evolution.

White people look more like monkeys. They have thin lips, straight hair and light skin like monkeys (shave off the hair of a monkey and it’s white). The only similarities blacks have with monkeys is a wide nose. That’s it

I suspect it’s the whole association between black people, monkeys and jungles?

We supposedly came from monkeys but if you look at other races, some of them do look like monkeys too

I can’t stand racists, and people like you who foster or perpetuate negative racial stereotypes. Why don’t you find something productive or useful to do?!

black people are homo sapiens same as anyone other person on earth. We are all one species. Some 4 million years or so ago we and chimpanzees had a common ancestor. About 5 million years ago chimps and humans had a common ancestor with gorillas and orangutans. It is a few million years before that that we all had a common ancestor with monkeys. That is the relationship. Anyone comparing a black person with a monkey is just ignorant and showing it. Remember the saying "It is better to stay silent and let everyone think you are a fool than to open your mouth and prove it."

Are you an ignorant moron or are you just very young and therefore can be excused for your ignorance in that you have asked the most disgustingly racist Q.
I am so disgusted that I find it hard to answer because will you understand my reply?? There is no history, we are humans, monkeys are primates, all of us were created by God so although there are similarities between human and animals behaviour etc it has nothing to do with race or colour.
if you look at elephants their behaviour toward their young babies looked after by "elephant aunts"their spiritual behaviour imitates us humans lots of animals have similar nature to us but one thing I truly believe is animals are not so ignorant as some humans.

To mighty atom: you obviously didn’t read the question correctly. Asking why other "people" use stupid and racist behaviour is not in itself racist. Human beings share about 99% of our DNA with the great apes and marginally less with monkeys. Are all primates and have separately evolved from a common lemur – like ancestor.

What I cannot explain is why some football supporters are so obviously less evolved that they feel the need to exhibit infantile behaviour when black football players are on the pitch.
