Given the fact that you are asking this, I am assuming you don’t have ’specialist’ knowledge on the subject – which should say DON’T – Monkeys are NOT meant as pets. Sure, they look cute but they actually require looking after AND specialist care. It is so easy to mistreat them – even without meaning to – because of lack of knowledge.
I used to volunteer in a tropical animal rescue sanctuary and the amount of monkeys rescued from homes and GARAGES (!) was horrendous. The poor creatures were depressed and ill. Often having had the wrong diet or care.
Please, please reconsider. If you have to have a monkey, why not sponsor one online and buy a ‘cuddly’ one. That way you can hug something which looks like what you were after and know that you are helping monkeys either in the wild or captivity.
