One of them has a really long chain. I thought it could be eggs, but supposedly sea monkey eggs are carrying like a pouch near the stomach – not a in a chain attached to the sea monkey. I couldn’t find anything easily / immediately on google about it. What are these chains?

They are only brine shrimp. Leave them in the same bowl, they reproduce fine on their own.

Depends on your tap water.
My tap water contains chloramines. That would result in dead sea monkeys. My tap water is also "hard." That would decrease the likelihood of the sea monkeys hatching.

They are very forgiving in their range of salinity. On a hydrometer you would want a specific gravity between 1.011 (15ppt) up to 1.030 (40ppt).

So for a one liter tank you should add somewhere between 1/2 and 2 tablespoons of salt (NOT table salt). Ideally use some marine salt as it will level out at the higher pH.
