What was darwin trying to say with this picture in relation with his theory?

The famous picture you’re talking about is not from Darwin.
Zallinger did it in the 50s or 60s for “Young Readers Nature Library” a collection of Time-Life.

One single image can’t explain the complexity of human evolution. Authors expected the young reader to read the text, I’m afraid many just looked at the image and got a poor idea of evolution.

Many mistakes, misunderstandings or preconceptions come from this picture :

- The hominid on the left is a modern chimpanzee
That’s a mistake: chimpanzee didn’t exist millions years ago. But 50 years later, some people still say "human evolve from chimps"

- Bipedalism is the goal of evolution (4 legs -> knuckle walking -> more and more upright position)
Wrong again: all those hominids had different bipedalisms, and chimpanzee-human MRCA was more likely a better biped than modern chimps.

- A species evolve into a better one and so one.
Evolution is not a straight line, it’s a branched tree and most species on the picture are dead branches.
There had always been several human species at the same time, not one species replacing one other one. The chronology at the top of the image explain it quite well

- Human is perfect and evolution is the way to perfection
Wrong of course even if Darwin himself because of his religious background thought Human was the "top of evolution". Evolution has no "top"
Furthermore, there is no such a thing like "more evolved" human is not "more evolved" than potatoes.

There is no chronology (you need to read) and body hair come from author imagination, but there is some humor and hominids features (height, shape, weapons) are scientifically correct.

Do you have to cite coloring book pictures you found on the internet?

i am doing a project called ag+bio for tsa. its like a science fair. basically, i just put some coloring book pictures on it, like a monkey and a pig. do i have to cite the coloring book i got it from? the quicker you answer, the better. i’m leaving for the competition this friday. help… please.

If anyone can find the picture and post the link, that would be great. I don’t know how possible it is to find though. I haven’t been having luck.
As it happens, this image represents the highest calibur of terror for a person I know, who may very well explode upon seeing it. Yes, I am thinking I will have to have it photoshopped.

A few years ago I visited the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point in Charleston SC, and I rememebr seeing a monkey in a navy uniform painted just before the engine room access. Does anybody know where I can find this picture? I think it would make for a really cool tattoo.

I’ve only seen a couple episodes, and I love the show, but Im curoius, why on earth does Gir love that green monkey? Ive seen pictures of him with it, and there’s a picture of the monkey in their living room, but why does he love it? Whats the story behind the monkey?

Theres not really a story its just that in one of the episodes the scary monkey show turns on and Gir goes over to watch it

I downloaded monkey jam but I need to figure out how to import pictures to it. PLZ help!!

To assemble all images, simply start the program, go to File > Import > Images… Browse to the folder where you have all your photos and select them all. Now press "Add Files". Change the number of "Hold" to change the duration time between the images. To finish, press "Import".

Now you can add sound to your file by going to File > Import > Audio. Select your audio file and add it to your project. When you think you’re ready, go to File > Export Avi. This will bring up a new window where you can change the settings of your output AVI file. And that’s it! You’re done creating your first stop motion animation
