Where can I find a trained capuchin monkey?
Me and my brother both want pet monkeys. I’ve done research and most people say capuchin monkeys make the best pet. I’m 16 my brother is 22. If anyone knows of somewhere we can get a trained baby male and a female please let me know. And if you happen to have one feel free to tell me everything I need to know. Thanks so much.
I don’t know who in the world told you they make nice pets…
The fact is, NO wild animals make a nice pet. Especially one’s that have thumbs, would be able to take a chunk out of you, would destory your house and things, and would cost thousands upon thousands of dollars.
While they would most likely be sweet and cute babies, the second they hit sexual maturity (puberty) they would become increasingly aggressive towards you and anyone around you. It would no longer to be fun, when your monkey decided to take a nice sized chunk out of your leg, arm, face, or ect.
You are also looking at a HIGH price. Monkeys are social so you’d have to have more than one.
Monkeys sell between $3000 – $10,000 a piece.
The proper enclosure to keep them in would run you upwards of $20,000 to $30,000.
The diet would cost you hundreds a week. You can’t buy monkey chow. Food must be prepared fresh every day for every meal. They are omnivores so would need both meat and veggies.
Then you need to take into account all the monkey you would have to spend replacing broken items, fixing broken things, and cleaning up after them.. This will be costly.
THEN, you have to consider vet care. Where are you going to take them if they become ill?
To the normal vet?
I think not. You would most likely need to get in with the local zoo and check to see if their vet would even be willing to see them. (most likely not) Or if they are willing to see them, it is going to come with a severly high price.
I would like to see a 16 and 22 year old pull all that off while carrying a job and trying to spend enough time with them, all in the while, your "pets" becoming aggressive towards you and eventually wanting little to do with you.
You also have to think of legality. Is it legal to own a monkey in your state? In most places it is not. In some places you are required to have a permit. Few states don’t regulate these creatures.

I highly advise against owning monkeys for pets. Most people don’t have a clue what they are getting themselves into. Of if they do, it’s incredibly hard to have that amount of expendable time and money.
What are some good home-made christmas presents for a capuchin monkey?
I have a 5 month old girl black-cap capuchin monkey named Kayla. She likes shiny, rattley, chewy things. And she LOVES keys. I have little necklace charms and keys and stuff like that. What are good home-made presents that i can make for her? Please include steps, thanks.
Empty milk jug or soda bottle and put a treat or bell inside and have her open it herself. Empty toilet paper roll and out peanut butter in..
Put her in the middle of a blanket and have 2 ppl at the end to lift her, my marms go on the curtains, put some old keys on a string.

ARE YOU ALOUD TO HAVE A CAPUCHIN MONKEY AS A PET IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE?
I want a Capuchin Monkey. But I am unaware if residents of Delaware are aloud to have such exotic pets. PLEASE HELP! Every little thing is helpful!
Delaware is one of the 6 states that require a permit for primate ownership. In addition to Idaho, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, and South Dakota. Also, be sure to check the legality within you city, as some states may require a permit, but your city may ban ownership.
What is the best name for a Capuchin Monkey?

Which animal is smarter a German Shepard Dog or a Capuchin Monkey (without taking into account that the?
Capuchin Monkey has hands & fingers like a person)
The capuchin. Like quite a few of the primates, it displays problem solving, tool building, and tool using intelligence. German shepherds are able to solve very simple problems, and can be trained to perform specific tasks, but they aren’t capable of solving complex problems on their own.
Capuchins, at least in a limited capacity, are capable of doing so.
For example, when untrained capuchin monkeys are placed in an environment where there is food in a location they cannot reach, they will almost always check their environment for things such as sticks they can use to pry the food out. They will even figure out how to retrieve the food if the solution requires them to manipulate more than one stick at the same time. However, they tend to make the same errors repeatedly when presented with the problem anew, even though they have solved the problem before.
On the other hand, wild capuchins are known to both dry nuts that aren’t good to eat when still green, and use "anvil stones" in order to crack open nuts they cannot open by hand. They are also known to leave their natural habitat for brief periods in order to hunt other sources of food, such as crabs or clams, and they do learn to consistently open the shells of those as well.
The clams, in particular, must be opened using a very specific technique of repeatedly knocking the shell of the clam on a certain spot and then rolling it in order to make the clam relax its valve muscles enough for them to try it open. If it isn’t don’t just right, the clam won’t cooperate, and the capuchin won’t be able to eat.
It takes quite some time for the monkeys to master the task, but they eventually learn through observation and experimentation how to do it consistently.
Additionally, during times of year when mosquitoes and other pests are prevalent, they will hunt down millipedes, aggravate them, and then rub them across their pelts in order to coat themselves with the millipede’s natural insect repellants.
All of that suggests that while they are slow learners compared to humans, they are not only capable of initial problem-solving, but are also capable of eventually teaching themselves new skills.
capuchin monkey gets ringworm can you use cream meant for humans?
I happen to know someone who has a Capuchin monkey and it has come down with ring worm I can get a script from the Dr. for a anti-fungi cream that humans use. Is it safe to use it on the Capuchin??
Their system is a lot like humans, but also very different in many ways. Some things safe for us are not safe for them. I would HIGHLY advise them to see an exotic vet. This website also has alot of information on health concerns regarding monkeys. You may be able to find a more informative answer here. They also have a list of primate vets within the US. You can also contact the owner of the website via email with detailed questions. Good luck www.TheMonkeyz.com
Capuchin monkey a good pet for me?
I was Just wondering if I would be able to own a capuchin monkey, if i am working weekdays from around 8 to 5. I would be home most of the time other than that and I will have my girlfriend living with me who will also be home a lot of the time when i am not. I have loved monkeys since i was a little kid and have put a lot of thought into owning one. Would this be ok or maybe just cruel??? I would also build my monkey a fair size outdoor enclosure. thanks!
If you got a monkey you would need to build the outdoor enclosure with a heated sleeping area and that’s where it would live – they can’t run round loose in a house. They are not pets in the usual sense, so what you are doing is keeping a wild animal in captivity – there is a difference. Also, as they are extremely social animals you need at least two, otherwise they are just miserable.
It is really rather cruel to keep them captive for no reason – they are born to live wild in the trees. Also, monkeys for the pet trade are caught as babies, by killing the mother and then taking the baby – also extremely cruel.
There are so many endangered monkey species – it would be a lot better to spend your money on work supporting their conservation – that’s the best monkey owner there is.
