Im looking forward to buying a monkey at a pet store soon
These animals should be left in the wild where they are free to breed and be with their own kind. I am sure you have not thought this idea through. Caring for one of these monkeys is very similar to having a child. You have to care for it 24 hrs a day for its life span. You cannot just go out with your friends and leave the monkey at home .How often have you seen a monkey at the shopping mall? Have you thought about what you would do if this animal bit someone? How are you going to deal with it’s toilet requirements? What will you feed it? What will you do with it when/if you go to school, college, have your own apartment?
What types of test do you have to take to buy a capuchin monkey?
How big does a capuchin monkey get ?
Also how much does it cost? cause i found one in the internet for £700
I don’t know about costs, but all non human primates must be placed in quarantine for 31 days when they enter the country. Also, some states/cities do not allow these types of pets. Check into your local laws. Also, essentially if you can get sick with it so can your monkey and vice versa. So, a pregnant woman or anybody with a weak immune system should not be around them.
does anyone have a baby capuchin monkey or know where i can get one ?
i live in california so anyone who has any info message me please.
I am concerned that you want a "baby" capuchin. Whatever kind of pet you want, you need to want the adult version as well. Babies do not stay babies forever.
Monkeys do not make good pets. There is simply no way to care for them thoroughly or safely in one’s home. One of their most basic needs is inclusion in a proper social group of their own species, so the fact that you want "a" monkey is a red flag. (If you’re now thinking of having several monkeys, forget it, they’ll put you in the hospital in no time.)
Aside from the harm this would do to the monkey and to yourself, think of what it takes to bring one monkey to the USA for the exotic pet trade. The answer is the deaths of about half a dozen other monkeys. Primate social groups are so tightly knit that they will defend the babies to their deaths, so those who collect baby monkeys to be sold as pets must first kill all adult members of the troop. By purchasing a pet monkey, you would be supporting this business and ensuring its continuation.
I am a professional primate keeper at a zoo. One of our gibbons was a victim of this practice. She was kidnapped from the wild as an infant, and her fingers cut off to separate her from her dead mother, to whom she’d been clinging. She then lived as a pet for the first three years of her life, after which her owner had to get rid of her because she had grown too strong and intelligent to keep. She’s lived at my zoo ever since. Having been raised by a human, she was never able to learn how to survive among others of her species, so she must be housed alone. My co-workers and I go to great lengths to provide her with the highest quality of life possible. It is a heartbreaking situation, and it exists because of people who purchase monkeys as pets.
do you need a exotic pets licence to own a capuchin monkey?
i have seen them on sale in UK and befor buying wnat to know if you need a licence?
These adverts are scams…real monkey breeders dont advertise in this way. You cannot get the black and white capuchins you see in the adverts, only the brown capped capuchin is available in the UK….and they will cost you a minimum of 4000. Since you need at least two monkeys, this is doubled to 8000, and they will cost you a similar amount to keep each year.
You will require an expensive enclosure which will cost at least another 2000 to erect, it must be heated for winter time and allow natural light to get in, making it MORE expensive.
You CANNOT keep a monkey in your house, even in a cage, any cage in a house is too small, minimum recommended enclosure for a pair of caps is 20ft long by 10ft wide.
Capuchins, like all monkeys are very aggressive and sexual when they hit maturity. They can use tools and are deeply dangerous, they stink, indulge in nasty habits involve their own faecal matter and will openly masturbate on you…it is NOT like that programme My Monkey Baby the reality is that monkeys cost tens of thousands to set up correctly and thousands to keep each year, they are capable of delivering such vicious bites and scratches you can require hospitalisation, they can pass diseases to you that can kill you, the common cold you catch can kill them, not to mention the cruelties involved in keeping them. YOU CANNOT KEEP ONE MONKEY ALONE THEY NEED ANOTHER MONKEY FOR COMPANY.
I am hoping you have more sense than you have money and you decide against buying monkeys. If you need more proof, go and volunteer at Monkey World or your local zoo…and see first hand what primates are REALLY like, all the primate keepers will tell you, beautiful and amazing as they are, they cannot be kept as pets by 99.9% of the population happily.
Should i get a Capuchin Monkey as a pet?
And, where can you get them in Australia?
Thanks.
Even though I don’t know where to find them in Australia, I think that a Capuchin Monkey may be a good Idea for a pet, because they are so small and easy to handle. You might have to figure out what it eats though.
Does anyone know where I can get a Capuchin Monkey?
I live in West Virginia, but I am definitely willing to travel.
Do not do not DO NOT get a monkey as a pet. They are terrible as "pets" and should not even be anywhere in the pet industry! You obviously haven’t done your research, or you would KNOW the mess you are setting yourself up for by getting a monkey as a pet. WHY do you want one as a pet, anyway? Ask yourself that, and READ the links provided below.
Unfortunately, the state of West Virginia has no ban on monkeys as pets. A real shame, because that animal is likely going to find itself euthanized when you cannot care for it properly and get tired of it, or the animal bites someone and has to be examined for rabies. Or you just outright dump the animal outside some zoo hoping they will take it in, when in reality, they will not.
what are the laws of owning Capuchin monkey?
just wondering as i thought it was ilegal but i don’t know. you tell me
i live in england but i don’t want one just woderng the laws only just found out they coudbe pets
Well, it depends what state you live in. If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming you can’t have one at all. If you live in a different state the laws are are all different. If you told me what state you’re in I could tell you more specifically. Try goggling your states laws and I bet you can come up with something : ).
Can u potty train a capuchin monkey ? How? How much are there licenses to keep one in your house?
Brown Capuchin
I think if you researched it, you’d probably find that monkeys don’t make great pets. They’re wild creatures, and will never grow to love & depend on you like domesticated animals.
And they fling poo.
If ferrets are legal where you live, you might enjoy their playful, silly natures. And, no poo flinging.
You need to research them as pets, though. . . not quite as simple to take care of as cats and dogs usually are.
