Is it legal to own a pet monkey in Victoria, Australia?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under monkey information | 3 Comments »

Now firstly I don’t want to hear that it’s bad to own monkeys as pets and they’re a lot of work, they’re expensive, time consuming etc.
I just want to know if it is legal to own one in Victoria, Australia.
Also any extra information about having them as pets would be appreciated :) I would ideally like an orangutan.
Thanks!!!

In places like Australia, you can own most things if you have a license. Doesn’t mean that they are good pets but that is your decision and I won’t force my opinions onto you. Good luck finding one though, not many people sell them plus they cost about £600 so think about it a little bit first maybe. Orangutans are not available as pets however, as they are critically endangered in the wild but you could go on holiday in the amazon rainforest if you want to see one. now about care, For starters your monkey will need a HUGE cage to live in. and also they only eat fresh fruit, so good luck on finding one!

I want a name that has to do with some kind of history or literature. It doesn’t really matter what culture. I just want a name more live DeVincci as apposed to like ‘Fluffy’. Se what I mean. If you could add a little note along with your name telling abut the person who’s name you used it’d be great.
Just to tell you a little about the little guy, he’s cute and loves his human ‘mamma’ but doesn’t like strangers or people who are rude to him and has a tendency to pull the hair of people he has a dissagreement with. :)
thanks!
he also likes to cuddle! :]

I got bitten by a spider monkey, and my blood was exposed, is there any risk at all?

It was a zoo monkey, they say it’s vaccinated, but I want to know what the risks are

Any time you are bitten by an animal there is risk of infection. I could care less if it is ‘vaccinated’ because I don’t know what he has had in his mouth since then. The Zoo should be responsible and see to it you get medical care at their expense. Animal bites are always potentially infectious. Domestic, vaccinated cats put a lot of people in hospitals. Have your self and the animal examined.

old world: from Africa and Asia, have narrower noses and larger bodies, spend more time on the ground, have opposable digits and some don’t have tails at all and none have prehensile tails (work as 5th limb)

new world: from Mexico, Central America, and South America, do not have fingernails or opposable digits, all have prehensile tails

What is so bad about being called a monkey?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under monkey | 14 Comments »

Monkey’s and Humans came from the sape ape ancestor and they and the black humans mutated in the same enviroment hence: Africa, isn’t it OBVIOUS they’d have similar looks physically?

Someone said I had monkey strength, is this a bad thing?

Some people call black people monkeys to be racist. If it’s not used in that way then it’s okay to say it.

If I wanted a marmoset ( a tiny monkey) where would I get one?

Can anyone tell me what you’ve got go through to get a licence for a capuchin monkey What requirements e.c.t?

Capuchin monkey wanted in the UK, But i’ve heard you’ve got to have a licence. I want to know what inspections would they being looking for to get a licence?
Like I said im trying to get one the UK from a UK breeder not the wild. I love animals and I would treat it like it was a part of our family. Alot of people want a Capuchin monkey not just me. They are not illegal if you have a license but you’ve got to get from the UK.

I had one of these monkeys in the early 60sI bought in a pet store for 60.oo.U can not buy them anymore It is against the law. they require alot of care and warmth. they are very smart and train nicely.I do not think u can get them even with a licence and they belong in the wild with thier own kind

Anybody else remember that old black and white movie of the monkey washing the cat?

Ever hear of the Monkey Man, a bizarre creature of India?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under monkey information | 3 Comments »

Those who have seen it say its 4 ft. stall, has sharp metal claws, has glowing or flaming red eyes, is quitr agile and has a face like a hunab man. It was said to have been terrorizing India throughtout May, 2001. Is this creature real or a product of mass hysteria? Anyone have any information in this creature?

I recall reading an article from CNN on this several years ago. I guess there were several alleged victims that had sustained what appeared to be injuries inflicted on them by an animal (bites and scratches/claw marks?) and it was suppose to be under investigation. I know that there were many, like the police, that attributed these attacks to mere superstition, but I don’t remember if anything was ever conclusively stated.

It is highly likely that it may have been a result of mass hysteria. You have to consider that a lot of the people in this area were/are not highly educated, and many of these people are probably firm believers of the paranormal and supernatural.

where can i get a squirrel monkey in El Paso?
