Ok, I JUST answered a question about pet monkeys:
What I said to them, applies to you and anyone else who is considering getting a pet monkey:
Monkeys don’t make good pets.
Trust me, I have done work experience at a zoo with primates, this included experience with monkeys (they are primates) too.
I have had experience with them and they should not be domestic house pets!!!! They need large enclosures and interaction with others of their species.
Will someone be home 24/7 to take care of the monkey?
Will you be able to recall your monkey 5-6 times a day?
Will you be able to raise the monkey with minimal handling?
Do you know any hand-signals for training monkeys?
Is there a vet in your area who has had experience with monkeys?
Do you know how to observe their skin for cuts and scabs?
Do you have a large outdoor enclosure with foliage from their natural habitat?
Do you even know where their natural habitat is?
Will you provide an indoor den for the monkey at night?
Are you prepared to clean it’s poop and enclosure everyday? – This is hose, scrub, hose, squeegy!! A time consuming process which must be done several times a day. AND IT IS GROSS! You’re gonna be needing to clean more than the time you actually get to spend with your monkey!!!!
Do you know what kind of behavioural enrichment is good for monkeys?
And You gotta have more than one monkey because they are very sociable creatures!!!
If you answered NO to ANY of these questions – then maybe you should do some research and then you’ll be able to find out that monkeys belong in the wild, or at least in zoos where their natural habitat is stimulated, and where trained professionals can take care of them.
Please don’t be cruel to the monkey and ignore my message.
If you truly love monkeys, how about you put some money aside and donate to a primate sanctuary in their natural diminishing habitat. You could get some volunteer work at a zoo if you desperately want contact with monkeys. These options are better than getting a monkey!!!!!
I have an old brass bellhandle (bell with handle) that my father found at an auction in 1981. It looks old and asian of some sort, the handle is in the shape of a monkey or god looking human that has a different face on each side. I would love to post a picture and get an idea of what this is and what it is worth. What websites are safe?
Hey Min T92,
Seems like there should be an "Antiques Internet Show", or something like that. About.com has an advice page, with tips. There is a site below, I am sure you will pay there. For Paintings you use Artprice.com, but it costs. Most antiques are in a category, and there are sites for many of the possible categories. I usually just compare an item to something someone else is selling. This seems like a Void that needs to be filled.
Also how much does it cost? cause i found one in the internet for £700
I don’t know about costs, but all non human primates must be placed in quarantine for 31 days when they enter the country. Also, some states/cities do not allow these types of pets. Check into your local laws. Also, essentially if you can get sick with it so can your monkey and vice versa. So, a pregnant woman or anybody with a weak immune system should not be around them.
I went to HS at Robert D. Edgren which is located in Misawa Japan in Aomori-Ken
My football coach was named Anthony ruffin He recently died last week From cancer.
He was the origin of the "ruffin roll" when the person with foot ball is coming towards you you dive-roll and aim just below the knee because "dey caint run if dey dont got dey legs"
During practice if we had any excuse for anything he would say "that’s yo monkey" "keep yo monkey on yo back" meaning do not let your problems effect others, and to this day I try to live by that.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<QUESTION>>>>>>>>>>>…
Have you ever received really good advice but they way its said to you is so ridiculous it makes it hard to recognize how good itis
I had a teacher who said people with black souls need to cover it with white out. She meant people who are filled with greed and anger need to replace those emotions with positive ones. The white out part was weird to me because I only think of white out when I am wiping out something…or sniffing it heehee…I don’t sniff it anymore.
where can i find them what websites so i can by one i’m starting my pet store and i won’t sell him or her but i think it would be a good idea to get a girl and boy so they can make a famlie and i can show the kids the babys and there famlies and teach them about the rain forest and all that i will treat them like people never caged up if u have any information please talk thank you
I currently own a capuchin male monkey. First off I will tell you that though your intentions mean well you will need to do alot of research. The sites listed below will talk about primate needs and charactertistics. You can never learn enough about these wonderful animals.
Also on you idea of wanting a girl and a boy. It is nearly impossible to raise 2 baby monkeys at the same time. The reason being is when you correct one the other one will come to its recue and you will have many problems. If you want a baby then get one raise it for approximately 2 yrs before getting another one. This is just monkey nature. In the wild when one monkey of the troop gets into trouble all the monkeys jump in to punish that monkey. It is not a good thing when a human is involved.
If you want to write to me I will give you my breeder’s email address. She is very reputable and I think she currently has a male right now that is ready to go.
You will see my monkey in my picture riding my dog.
Baby squirrel – dray/drey
baby monkey – infant
baby armadillo – pup
baby camel – calf
how does a spider monkey produce energy? Is it a autotroph or a heterotroph? Is it unicellular or mulitcellular? please anwser asap
It is a heterotroph because it isnt able to produce its own energy (autotrophs produce their own energy i.e. plants) And it is multicellular because it is composed of billions and billions of cells.
I have a report to do on capuchin monkeys and i need to know what are the different kinds of them. So please dont say it kust for points. I need these answers
All capuchin monkeys belong to the genus Cebus. Here’s a reliable website (the Animal Diversity Web) with the list of species and accounts for some of them:
http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/classification/Cebus.html#Cebus
There are 8 species, and Cebus capucinus and C. apella are probably the best-known ones.
I want a monkey but I don’t know if it’s legal to own one in Wisconsin.
First, you need to check if your state allows non-human primates (monkeys, apes and their kin) to be kept as pets, and if so, are there any special restrictions, like licenses and permits. You can check here: http://www.api4animals.org/b4a2_exotic_animals_summary.php
If you find that monkeys are legal in your state, you need to check with your county and municipality, because many individual counties and municipalities restrict the ownership of animals that are otherwise legal in the state.
If you are legally allowed to have a monkey as a pet, then consider the conditions under which monkeys are acquired from the wild, the conditions under which they are kept, their total unsuitability for a life of confinement, and the diseases they can contract and spread to humans. That, in addition to the fact that you would have the equivalent of a 3 year old baby in diapers throwing temper tantrums, hitting, biting, flinging excretement and occupying your every minute 24/7 for the next 25-50 years.
