What do you have to buy in order to maintain a capuchin monkey?

Posted by admin on November 24th, 2009 and filed under capuchin monkey | 2 Comments »

What kind of food does it eat? Are they friendly? Do they make good companions?Should I buy two to keep them company? How much do they cost? How much will it cost to mantain one? or two?

monkies dont make good pets..

they are aggressive for one, and it cannot be "trained out of them" Many primate owners suffer serious injuries from their pet monkies. They bite, hit, slap, pinch, etc.

They are disgusting.. they masturbate, they throw poop, they smear their food, they cannot be housebroken, and they will not keep a diaper on.

They can carry diseases including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, etc.

The monkey itself is around $3,000-5,000 and up.. this is just the price of the monkey, there’s also the cost of shipping, obtaining proper paperwork, licencing, etc. They are illegal in many areas and can be difficuilt to ship.

Vet care is not cheap.. they need specialized vets.. $$$

They have specialized diets.. its not just bannanas.. they need fresh fruits, but they also need special ordered diets and supplements for optimal health.. you can just go to the petshop and buy monkey chow either.

They need proper containment.. my dog’s breeder has several capuchins as pets, and she has a large outdoor run for them that took up about half of her backyard.. it looked like a very expensive enclosure, as she had to make sure it was escape proof, and that there was also plenty in there for the monkies to do to keep them entertained. I’d have to guess that she put well over $10,000 into that outdoor enclosure.

The market of buying monkies is also cruel.. to get a monkey, they have to be taken as newborns from their mother. Think about that.

Monkies are a lifetime commitment.. they can easily live 25-30+ years. They do not adapt well to new owners, not even with experienced primate owners.. that means you have to plan all vacations, etc to accomodate for your monkey for the next 25+ years..

should you find that you cannot care for your monkey or cant afford it.. the monkey will pretty much have to be euthanized, as no one can take it. Zoos do NOT take people’s unwanted pets. Pet monkies often lack the proper social skills to integrate them with other primates.

black dots in sea monkey cage?

Posted by admin on November 24th, 2009 and filed under monkey black | 1 Comment »

I recently got sea monkeys, and they are all about full size now. I notice very small perfectly round black dots floating in the water, and i dont know if they are sea monkey eggs or a form of bacteria. If it is the bacteria…what should i do??? Please answerrr!!

The eggs are usually in sacs that will be attached to the females near where their tails meet their bodies. I’ve never seen eggs floating around like that. If these black dots are some kind of mold or bacteria, try to scoop them out. Are your Sea Monkeys okay? If they don’t seem sick or are dying in large numbers, scooping out the dots probably won’t hurt them.

Is it easy to thrill the audience with your monkey?

Life, through a sight glass
Prepared, stylized, perfected
Controlled experiment
Organized information
Logical outcome

When I, under a quiet autumn moon
Spied a vision of beauty beyond belief
In her sleep, with the golden leaves falling
I laid next to her and stared at the sky

Love, through a looking glass
Pretentious, stubborn, perfect
Uncontrolled excitement
Organ grinder’s monkey
Illogical outcry

Yes, there seems to be a moon and a monkey in the air these days…

I don’t really want an audience but he’s thrilled me on many occasions.

Does anyone own a Monkey that can answer my questions about them?

Thank you and please answer the question if you own a Capuchin or Squirrel Monkey and I can talk to you about owning one because I am very interested. It is legal here in Ohio and I doresearch everyday since like the past year.

You first have to make sure that you are the right person for a monkey. The most common species of monkey kept is the capuchin all though spider monkeys and macaques are also commonly kept. Here are some site that may help.

Can spider monkeys really wrap around your finger?

Posted by admin on November 24th, 2009 and filed under monkeys | 3 Comments »

I’ve seen pictures and people tell me about how small spider monkeys are.
Are they so small that they can wrap around your finger? Can you give me a picture?

They are pulling your leg. Spider monkeys are some of the larger monkeys. There is a picture at the link.

How do you make monkey bread?

I tried monkey bread from a friend not to long ago and I loved it. I would like to try and make it. Does anyone know how to make it?

Cinnamon Monkey Bread
From Cindy Crawford

Ingredients

2 loaves white bread, uncooked (freezer section of grocery store)
1 stick melted butter (add more if needed)
2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Directions
1. Thaw bread dough overnight in refrigerator. When soft, use kitchen scissors to cut it up into one inch pieces. Dip dough into melted butter, then roll around in sugar/cinnamon combination until covered.

2. Line bottom of a bundt pan and then start to layer in evenly. Cook at temperature recommended on dough packaging for about one hour until golden brown and hard on the top. Remove from oven and flip over on to a larger platter. Let sit with pan on top for a few minutes while the sweet mixture runs down the bread.

3. Garnish with holly, marichiano cherries, candied nuts, icing, or decoration of your choice.

4. To eat, pick apart—like a bunch of monkeys.

What can I feed my Marmoset Monkey?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2009 and filed under marmoset monkey | 3 Comments »

Marmosets are mainly fruit eaters but will take live insects like mealworms and wax worms. Locust can be given now and again. Do some research or ask at a zoo. The person who sold it to you should have given you a care sheet on how to look after it.

You’ll need to determine if you can have it, prove you came by it legally, get the proper permit, pay an annual fee for the permit, house it according to the specific requirments and be able to transport it according to the specific requirments.
